In Patna, two headmasters and a middleman were arrested on Saturday for their alleged involvement in the recruitment of fake teachers in Samastipur. The arrests were made after an investigation conducted by a four-member committee appointed by Samastipur DM Yogendra Singh. The headmasters arrested were Dilip Ram from Purushottampur Primary School and Avinash Kumar Tandon from Navtolia Primary School, along with middleman Parvez Alam. They were apprehended in the Town police station area.
A significant scam was uncovered at Navtolia Primary School, as per a police source. Following the revelation of the fake recruitment, various teachers are being scrutinized, and 12 are said to be missing. It was revealed by the police that the bogus teachers were fraudulently appointed in place of candidates selected through BPSC, through manipulation during counseling sessions.
The DM stated, "We received complaints about fraudulent appointments in the BPSC TRE-2.0. After the successful candidates list for the BPSC exam was released and their documents were verified, biometric thumbprints of the candidates were obtained. However, certain individuals from the education department deceitfully appointed fake teachers by utilizing the roll numbers and candidate IDs of the chosen BPSC teacher candidates who did not take up the position."
The DM further explained that a four-member committee was set up on September 7 to investigate the matter. Based on the committee's findings, the headmasters and the middleman were arrested. "One Ranjana Kumari from Purushottam Primary School was identified as a bogus teacher. Furthermore, the appointments of teachers Nikhat Parveen and Tanuja Kumari at the same school are currently being investigated," said an official from the Town police station.
